Dr. Betty Fetscher
Betty Fetscher is a biologist specializing in stream ecology, botany, and the analysis of ecological data. She received her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1992, and her Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, in 1999. Dr. Fetscher, who joined SCCWRP in December 2003, directs the stream benthic algae research program and has been working with State agency personnel to develop the capacity for statewide stream bioassessment using algal indicators. Other recent accomplishments include work with the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project's Scientific Advisory Panel toward the development of a wetlands regional monitoring program, and participation in the development and validation of the California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) for wetlands.
