MARLENE HANKEN – Senior Research Technician

Hanken is a database programmer and analyst in the Information Management and Analysis Department. Since joining SCCWRP in March 2010, Hanken has focused on database administration and coordinating data acquisition among participating agencies for a variety of SCCWRP’s internal projects, addressing data requests from member agencies, and advancing data management for the Southern California Regional Data Center as part of the California Environmental Data Exchange Network (CEDEN). Hanken also assists in the use of data visualization tools and programs to communicate information effectively. Her other duties include data warehousing and cleansing for SCCWRP’s in-house programs. A graduate of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA, Hanken completed her B.S. in mathematics in 2005. Before joining SCCWRP, Hanken accumulated over seven years of experience developing information management systems and data storage tools in a chemistry laboratory setting.
