Dr. Blythe Layton

Blythe is a microbiologist specializing in microbial source tracking in the coastal environment. She received her B.A. in Biology from Whitman College in 2003, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering & Science from Stanford University in 2006 and 2010. Blythe joined SCCWRP in June 2010, where she works on novel microbial water quality monitoring methods, including in situ molecular technologies. Her research interests include the detection, diversity, and ecology of fecal pathogens in the nearshore ocean and sediments.
