Proper data management is essential to successful implementation of many of SCCWRP's research projects. SCCWRP has been involved in a number of projects that have led to regional and statewide environmental condition assessments, including the Regional Bight Surveys, the Western Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program, and development of the Southern California Regional Data Center. SCCWRP's Information Management department has been instrumental in organizing and working with large groups of agencies to collect data that is both comparable and easy to understand. They improve data quality and ease of integration through the development of consensus-based standardized data-transfer formats (SDTFs). Web-based technologies are currently being incorporated into SCCWRP's project-related data submission process, which further improves user friendliness and data accessibility.
