RAPHAEL D. MAZOR - Scientist
EDUCATION:
B.A.,
Neuroscience and Behavior, Columbia University, 1999
Areas of expertise:
Dr.
Mazor specializes in developing and evaluating bioassessment programs in
rivers, streams, and wetlands using benthic macroinvertebrates and periphyton.
Working at large temporal and spatial scales, he has improved precision,
accuracy, and sensitivity of bioassessments using the reference condition
approach. In addition, he has studied the population genetics of rare and
endangered invertebrates endemic to the vernal pools of California.
Professional
experience:
Scientist, Southern California Coastal Water Research Project Authority. Westminster, CA. 2006-Present
Biomonitoring
specialist, NYC Parks and Recreation Natural Resources Group. New York, NY. 1999-2001

National Science Foundation Graduate
Research Fellow—Honorable Mention, 2002-2003
University Fellowship—University of
California, Berkeley, 2001-2002
