Research descriptions are grouped by themes, areas, project groups, and projects. You can access more focused project descriptions by going deeper into the navigation tree, or searching for a specific project with the site search.

Every page includes contact information for the lead SCCWRP scientist in that research or project area. SCCWRP encourages you to contact them directly if you have questions or would like additional information on a given topic.

SCCWRP Research

The Southern California Coastal Water Research Project Authority (SCCWRP) is a research institute focusing on the coastal ecosystems of southern California, from watersheds to the ocean. This section of the website provides an overview of the activities SCCWRP scientists are currently or have recently been engaged in.

Projects are organized by research thematic areas, where projects that answer similar questions are grouped together. Each of these research themes play a role in SCCWRP's mission to improve scientific understanding of linkages among human activities, natural events, and the health of the Southern California coastal environment.

In addition to traditional scientific investigations, SCCWRP has traditionally engaged in efforts to coordinate multiple stakeholders and produce comprehensive regional assessments of environmental condition, described under Regional Monitoring. Descriptions of information management and analysis projects can be found in the Data Projects section.
