Robert Butler is a Data Engineer at the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP), where he designs and maintains data systems supporting regional environmental monitoring and research programs. His work focuses on building reliable, end-to-end data pipelines that automate data ingestion, validation, storage, and delivery for analysis and reporting. He has also been the lead developer for various data visualization applications across multiple departments within the organization. Robert also does reporting for SCCWRP's finance department with Dynamics BC and Power BI.

He received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of California, Irvine in 2016 and later went on to work at SCCWRP in the summer of 2018 as an intern. Robert was hired on full time at SCCWRP in 2019.
