Dr. Nastassia Patin

Dr. Nastassia Patin is an bioinformatician in the SCCWRP Biology Department and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography who specializes in environmental DNA (eDNA) sequence data generation and analysis. She works jointly with SCCWRP and the California Cooperative Oceanic Fisheries Investigations (CalCOFI) to integrate eDNA into marine biological surveys to augment biodiversity assessments and improve our understanding of marine food webs. This work includes collecting and analyzing data from field surveys and laboratory experiments, as well as developing and improving computational tools for sequence data analysis.

She received a Ph.D. in marine biology from the University of California, San Diego in 2016, a M.S. in marine biology from San Francisco State University, and a B.S. in biology from Stanford University in 2008. She joined SCCWRP in 2023.
