KENNETH C. SCHIFF  Deputy Director

EDUCATION:

M.S., Biology, California State University, Long Beach, 1988

B.S., Biology, California State University, San Diego, 1984

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Schiff is SCCWRP's Deputy Director and is responsible for helping manage day-to-day operations, supervising and mentoring senior level staff, and developing the long-term vision of the research agency. He received his B.S. in biology from San Diego State University in 1984 and his M.S. in biology from California State University, Long Beach in 1988. Schiff joined SCCWRP in August 1995. His research focus cuts across several scientific disciplines and agency departments to assess both environmental and human health risk. The outcome of his research has been widely used in environmental management actions including remediation prioritization and implementation, assessment tool development, testing new technology, and regulatory responses such as NPDES permit conditions, developing TMDLs, and setting water quality standards.

Before coming to SCCWRP, Schiff spent time at California State University, Long Beach teaching and working with graduate students and interns. He has also served on project teams with the California Department of Fish and Game, National Marine Fisheries Service/Scripps Institute of Oceanography, Channel Islands National Park Service, University of Southern California, and Southern California Ocean Studies Consortium, in addition to consulting in private industry.
